Timor-Leste’s First and Only Sustainable Community Development Model.
Having gained independence after five centuries of colonization and conflicts, Timor-Leste still suffers from extreme poverty, chronic malnutrition, excessive urbanization and environmental degradation. To prove that bringing prosperity to this new country is indeed possible, Leublora Green Village (LGV) was founded with a mission to realize the rural transformation of Timor-Leste through three strategies: 1) environmental education, 2) eco-tourism and 3) organic farming.
Established in 2015, LGV’s combined approach has been effective in empowering women and children, nourishing a spirit of self-sufficiency, and promoting sustainable development in rural Timor. With the ultimate vision to lead this oil-dependent country to a more sustainable future, LGV is now exploring collaboration with the government of Timor-Leste and other like-minded organizations to replicate the model in every district of the country.
Today, LGV runs three programs. All profits generated from LGV’s commercial goods and services are fully invested in its social projects.
