Our roots are in Abu Dhabi with operations in the UAE and beyond. We’re a top 10 integrated utilities champion in the EMEA region with power and water and oil and gas operations in 11 countries around the world.

Our story begins in 1998 with the privatization of Abu Dhabi’s power and water sector, underscoring the importance of water security and provision of power to communities across the UAE. This move paved the way for TAQA’s establishment as a publicly listed company on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) in 2005. Since then, we’ve grown into a diversified company with operations in the UAE as well as Canada, Ghana, India, Iraq, Morocco, Netherlands, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and United States.

Our beginnings lie in the provision of power generation and water desalination capabilities in Abu Dhabi, which have underpinned our growth into one of the largest utilities companies in the GCC. Today, we are a top-10 integrated utilities player in Europe, the Middle East and Africa by regulated assets.

We are committed to playing a role in delivering the UAE Energy Strategy 2050. We have 13 operational power generation and water desalination plants across the emirates. In addition, Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company PJSC (TRANSCO), Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) provide transmission and distribution networks and grids serving more than 1 million customers, making the UAE a large part of our business. The facilities’ availability performance is in the top quartile for the industry and provide approximately 1 million customers in the UAE with power and water.

In addition to our UAE-based power and water plants, we have GCC-focused investments in power generation facilities in Oman and Saudi Arabia, with a 40% stake in Sohar Aluminium Company, which includes captive power generation facilities for an aluminum smelter, and a 25% interest in Jubail power plant.
